The CFO, Board of Directors Member and Co-Founder of American Battery Factory (ABF) and President of Lion Energy, Tyler Hortin has more than 20 years of financial, manufacturing, emergency preparedness and supply chain experience and more than ten years of energy storage experience. Hortin has worked at Lion Energy since its founding with duties range from overseeing financial planning, co-developing, and implementing corporate vision. A Certified Public Accountant in Utah, Hortin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Informational Technology from Brigham Young University and received a Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas.

As Chief Marketing Officer at Lion Energy, Shaun Stirland has more than 27 years of marketing, sales and management experience in various industries including energy storage, computer software, medical tools and athletic training supplies. Stirland has worked at Lion Energy for more than four years and is responsible for all marketing activities including strategy development and execution; overseeing public relations, digital marketing and social media; and managing activities and events for the company. 

Beyond his extensive marketing background, Stirland has a strong revenue growth track record including his tenure as a Senior International Manager at Ultradent Products where he led the company’s international business turnaround by achieving 33% growth (to $35M) while opening offices in Brazil and Japan and expanding markets in 115 countries. Stirland has a strong track record as a leader including stints at PrimeKinetix, KT Tape and SJS and Associates. Stirland graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.

As Chief Technology Officer of Lion Energy, Thierry Caussat oversees energy and battery management systems, app development and information management. In addition, he is bringing together the engineering, technology and product teams to engineer products for the U.S. market and create smart devices. Prior to joining Lion Energy, Caussat was Chief Technology Officer at VIA Motors, where he led the development of the company’s electric powertrains, integrating new components and architectures. In addition, Caussat was Software Project Leader for French global automotive supplier Valeo, which brought him to the United States in 2000 to provide engineering leadership on U.S.-based Valeo projects. Caussat has extensive practical experience as a technician for automation and robotics. A native of Toulouse, France, Caussat earned a master’s degree in engineering from INP-ENSEEIHT and a doctorate in electrotechnics from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III.

The Chief Operations Officer of Lion Energy, Ryan Frey is the architect of its supply chain operations and one of the company’s first four employees. Now an eight-year veteran at Lion Energy, Frey is responsible for all facets of the company’s operations including importing, shipping, receiving and warehousing operations. Additional duties include overseeing inventory management, global supply chain operations and compliance with local, state and federal safety standards. He is also a specialist in product classification with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes and holds many Dangerous Goods certifications. Frey attended the engineering school at Utah Valley University. 

As Vice President of Emerging Markets at Lion Energy, Tom Tolman leads the company's sales team as it introduces energy storage systems to the commercial, industrial and utility sectors. In addition, he works with energy storage companies to solve their battery modularizing, Racking and PCS needs. He also analyzes power data and power bills to calculate system ROI. Tolman was previously the Director of Engineering at TNT Labs and Project Development Engineer at Novatek. Tolman earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University.
