Lion Sanctuary - Reliable, Quiet, and Zero-Maintenance Backup Power

Get ready before the storm. Ahead of hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, or any event that could knock out power, use the Lion mobile app to confirm your batteries are fully charged and your settings are where you want them. Each Sanctuary 3 battery stores 14.3 kWh of energy.

Let automatic backup protect what matters. When the grid fails, the Sanctuary detects the outage and switches your home to battery power without interruption, keeping refrigeration, lights, your furnace, Wi-Fi, and outlets running. There's no generator to fuel or start, and its lithium iron phosphate batteries run quietly with no fumes. Each inverter delivers up to 12 kW of continuous power, though actual runtime depends on which circuits are backed up and how much those loads draw.

Stretch your stored energy. Track real-time consumption in the app and hold off on high-draw appliances you don't need. A little discipline goes a long way if the outage lasts longer than expected.

Recharge with sunlight or a generator. When grid power isn't available, solar panels can recharge the system through up to 18 kW of PV input per inverter, and the system can also accept a generator as a charging source. Cloud cover and available daylight will affect real-world charging times.

Scale up for extended outages. Outages in hurricane and flood zones average around 25 hours, and the Sanctuary is built to grow with your needs. A single inverter supports up to six batteries (85.8 kWh), and a full system scales to 171.6 kWh.

Using the Lion Safari During Southeastern Emergencies

  1. Charge up before the storm. Top off your Lion Safari ahead of hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, or any event that could knock out power. It stores 1,612 Wh of energy and recharges from a wall outlet at up to 800 W or from compatible solar panels at up to 600 W.
  2. Power what matters most. During an outage, keep phones, laptops, lights, communication devices, CPAP machines, and refrigerators running. The Safari's 3,000 W inverter can handle a refrigerator and other major appliances, though actual runtime depends on each device's power draw and how often it cycles on.
  3. Stretch your stored energy. Run only essential devices, unplug anything you're not using, and monitor consumption through the Safari's Bluetooth connectivity. A little discipline goes a long way if the outage lasts longer than expected.
  4. Recharge with sunlight. When grid power isn't available, compatible solar panels can recharge the Safari in about 2.7 hours at the full 600 W input. Cloud cover, panel angle, and available daylight will all affect real-world charging times.
  5. Add capacity for extended outages. Pair the Safari with a Safari XP expansion pack to increase total capacity to approximately 4,300 Wh and extend your backup window.
