When the Grid Goes Down, Your Home Doesn’t Notice.
The Sanctuary 3 detects an outage and restores power to your home automatically — the lights stay on, the furnace keeps running, the fridge stays cold. No fuel, no noise, no pull cord.

When everything else goes dark, home shouldn’t.
Storms, a strained grid and wildfire shutoffs can take away heat, refrigeration, medical devices and water — often when nobody’s home to start a generator.
When the lights go out
Your home switches to battery power automatically, for outages that last hours or days.
When the power gets weak
It steadies voltage during brownouts, protecting your appliances and electronics.

Charge it. Store it. Forget it’s there.
- Charge from any source. The grid, your solar panels (up to 18 kW of PV per inverter) or a generator with auto-start keep the batteries topped up.
- Store it in LiFePO₄. Each Lion battery module holds 14.3 kWh. Add modules and inverters as your needs grow, up to 171.6 kWh.
- Automatic backup. When the grid fails, the Sanctuary takes over on its own, with no start-up delay, whether or not you’re home.
- Control it in the LionESS app. Monitor in real time, change battery settings and choose which essential loads come first.

The things your family actually needs
- Refrigerator and freezer
- Furnace and heat circulation
- Lights in every room
- Wi‑Fi and home office
- Sump and well pumps
- Medical devices
- Garage door and security

With 12 kW of continuous output per inverter, larger systems can also carry 240V loads. Central air, electric heat and EV charging draw a lot; your installer will tell you exactly what your system can carry.
From an overnight outage to days off the grid
Estimated hours of backup for your essentials — fridge, furnace fan, lights, Wi‑Fi and a few outlets — before any solar recharge. Your installer sizes the exact system to your home.
| System | Inverters × batteries · storage · output | Essentials at ~1 kW / ~2 kW | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials · starter system | 1 × 2 · 28.6 kWh · 12 kW | ~26 hrs / ~13 hrs | Overnight and full-day outages, solar homes |
| Extended | 1 × 3 · 42.9 kWh · 12 kW | ~39 hrs / ~19 hrs | Hurricane and flood zones |
| Whole-Home | 2 × 4 · 57.2 kWh · 24 kW | ~51 hrs / ~26 hrs | Larger homes, multi-day outages |
| Custom / Off-Grid | Up to 4 × 12 · up to 171.6 kWh · up to 48 kW | Sized to your usage | Off-grid solar, ranches, 1,051+ kWh/month |
Estimates use 90% usable capacity and a steady average load; real run time depends on what’s running, the weather and your solar. With solar, many homes recharge during the day and keep going.
Every Sanctuary 3 system starts at 1 inverter and 2 batteries.
How much backup does your home need?
Enter your power bill, pick what you want running when the grid goes down, and we'll size the right Lion Sanctuary 3 or Lion Vault system for your home.

Your electric bill
Grab a recent power bill. Enter the kWh you used for the month or the dollar amount.
What should stay on?
Check what you want running during an outage. Typical wattages are filled in, so adjust any you know.
Do you have solar?
Solar recharges your battery during an outage, so you may need less storage to go the same distance.
How long without the grid?
How long should your system carry you with no grid power?
*This is just an estimate, and you should speak to a Lion Energy Advisor for specific details on your project. Actual needs vary with climate, season, appliance age and how you use your home. Sizing assumes 14.3 kWh per Lion battery, 12 kW continuous output per Sanctuary 3 inverter, and a planning reserve so you aren't running the battery to empty. Solar estimates assume clear-sky production; cloudy or snowy days produce less, so with solar we still size for at least an evening and night of storage. A Lion Certified Installer will confirm the final design for your home.
Sanctuary 3 vs. a gas generator

Flexible consumer financing is available.
A generator waits for the next outage. A Sanctuary works every day.
A standby generator is insurance you pay to maintain and fuel. The Sanctuary 3 protects you in an outage and earns its keep the rest of the time, storing your solar and steadying your power — for 10 to 25 years.
10-year standard warranty, with coverage up to 25 years available
max inverter efficiency, so more of the solar you make gets used in your home
fuel, oil changes or weekly exercise runs
add batteries, inverters and solar later — the system grows instead of being replaced
Use your solar after sunset
Store daytime solar instead of exporting it, then use it in the evening. Where your utility charges more at peak times, that can lower your bill.
Protects what you’ve bought
Brownout voltage steadying helps protect appliances, electronics and HVAC from damaging dips.
Outlasts the alternative
A 10–25 year system life, versus roughly 10–15 years for a gas generator — with no engine to wear out.
Real installs, real outages
OFF-GRID RANCHRed Poppy RanchA complete off-grid solar system for homes, ranches and cabins
Off-grid solar used to mean a shed full of lead-acid batteries, a separate inverter and a charge controller wired together by hand. The Sanctuary 3 puts the hybrid inverter, solar charger, battery charger and LiFePO₄ storage into one certified system that runs on-grid or fully off-grid.
of solar input per inverter, on MPPT charge controllers
of maximum storage to carry you through nights and cloudy days
split-phase output for well pumps, shop tools and appliances
generator input as a backup for long stretches without sun
Ranches and homesteads
Run the house, the well pump and the shop on your own solar, with no utility hookup to pay for or wait on.
Cabins and second homes
Off-grid solar power that you monitor from home in the LionESS app, so you know it’s running before you arrive.
Remote shops and outbuildings
Where running power lines costs more than the system, put an off-grid solar system right where you need it.

Questions, answered
How does backup work?
The Sanctuary detects the outage and switches your backed-up circuits to battery power automatically, with no start-up delay. Your solar keeps charging the batteries during the day.
How long will it run?
That depends on the size, from 28.6 kWh (1 inverter and 2 batteries) to 171.6 kWh, and on what you run. A 2-battery system covers most homes’ essentials for about a day, and solar can recharge it.
Can the Sanctuary 3 be a full off-grid solar system?
Yes. It runs fully off-grid, accepts up to 18 kW of solar per inverter, scales to 171.6 kWh and supports a backup generator with auto-start. Your installer sizes it for your loads and how many days without sun you want to cover.
Is it safe inside my home?
Yes. It uses LiFePO₄ chemistry, is UL certified, and is silent with no fumes. It’s also NEMA 3R / IP65 rated for outdoor installs.
How long does installation take?
A Lion Certified Installer typically completes an install in one to two days, depending on permits.
Can I expand it later?
Yes. Add solar up to 18 kW per inverter, more battery modules, and more inverters as your needs grow.
What maintenance does it need?
Effectively none — no fuel, oil or test runs.
What’s the warranty?
A 10-year standard warranty, with coverage up to 25 years available.
Do I qualify for tax credits or incentives?
Your advisor will tell you what applies in your area.
