American Fork, Utah — May 11,2025Lion Energy today announced it has received a Letter of Attestation from CSA Group confirming successful evaluation of the Sanctuary® 3 Energy Storage System and Lion Energy Management System (EMS) for compliance with key smart inverter and grid-interoperability standards.

The attestation verifies that Lion EMS model 9000069, operating in conjunction with the Sanctuary 3 Grid Support Interactive Inverters (12kW, 18kW, and 24kW), was evaluated for conformance with Common Smart Inverter Profile (CSIP) V2.1 in accordance with SunSpec / IEEE 2030.5 requirements, as documented in CSA test report 80251808, issued May 10, 2025.

What the Attestation Covers

According to the CSA Group evaluation, Lion Energy’s EMS and Sanctuary 3 inverter platform successfully demonstrated compliance, where applicable, with the following IEEE 2030.5 smart inverter functions:

  • Inverter Status (BASIC-028)

  • Inverter Meter Reading (BASIC-029)

  • Volt/Var Control (BASIC-006)

  • Fixed Power Factor Control (BASIC-008)

  • Volt-Watt Control (BASIC-011)

All required test cases were completed with passing results under the CSIP V2.1 conformance procedures.

Why This Matters

As utilities and grid operators increasingly require standardized communication and grid-support functionality from distributed energy resources, IEEE 2030.5 interoperability has become a foundational requirement for modern energy storage systems.

This Letter of Attestation confirms that Lion Energy’s Sanctuary 3 platform, when paired with the Lion EMS, is designed to support advanced grid-interactive behaviors — enabling:

  • Utility-aligned inverter communications

  • Dynamic voltage and power factor control

  • Real-time inverter status and metering visibility

  • Grid-support functionality required for regulated markets

These capabilities are critical for energy storage systems deployed in grid-connected, hybrid, and regulated environments.

A Foundation for Intelligent, Grid-Interactive Energy Systems

The evaluated configuration confirms the role of the Lion EMS as the IEEE 2030.5 gateway coordinating communication between the Sanctuary 3 inverters and grid requirements. This architecture supports Lion Energy’s broader strategy of delivering intelligent, grid-aware energy platforms across residential, commercial, and scalable deployments.
