PORTABLE POWER AFFECTS HOME LIFE

Home can be a personal sanctuary for you and your family. Each day can be fun, exciting and sometimes scary. Portable power and stored energy makes home life more convenient, enjoyable, safe and secure no matter what the day brings. Come see how.

USING POWER AROUND THE HOUSE

Today, more than ever, we value our freedom. And that includes freedom from having to be tethered to a wall outlet for power or being dependent on the grid. Lion Energy’s power solutions provides freedom to have power wherever you need it, whenever you need it… with no strings or cords attached. Come see how.

INDOOR USE

When you think of power usage inside your home, you probably think you’re covered by simply plugging everything into wall outlets. But sometimes outlets are too far way or there aren’t enough where you need them. What if you want to run your laptop from the comfort of your favorite chair but the wall outlet is too far away? What about charging your phone on the front porch while you chat with a friend and enjoy the fresh air? Portable power comes in handy!

Portable Power in Your Home
Power up all your devices: laptops, cell phones, tablets and computers, TVs, gaming devices, CPAP machines, the list goes on and on. The idea is having convenient, safe (no fumes or pollutants), silent and renewable power where you need it.

OUTDOOR USE

Portable power for outdoor use is more of a need in todays world than ever before. Taking care of your yard, vehicles, or even fun activities outside often require a source of power. And you don't want to drag a long extension cord around to provide power for your devices. Safe, renewable portable power solutions make life better for you and for the environment.

Ways To Use Portable Power Outside:

  • Power tools
  • Yard equipment like electric edgers and trimmers
  • Jump-starting your vehicles and riding lawnmowers
  • Ambient lighting
  • Projectors and big screen TVs
  • Grilling and cooking on smokers
  • Charging devices while camping

Portable power means you don’t have to be tethered to the wall outlet or drag extension cords around. It means you’ve got power where you need it and when you need it.

TYPES OF POWER

When you want to power things around the house and yard or on the go, there are basically three options—wall outlets, generators and portable power units, and home energy storage . Let's take a closer look at these last two options.

GAS GENERATOR

Generators can provide a good source of power because they often have a higher output (watts) so they can run things that require lots of power, BUT they also have some limitations:

  • Require fuel so you need to have a supply of gas on hand and keep restocking that based on how much you use the generator.
  • Emit fumes or other types of pollutants so you can't use them indoors and their not as friendly to the environment.ment.
  • Can be noisy which means you'll want to set them far enough away from you that you're not bothered by the noise.
  • Maintenance plans are needed just like any fuel-driven piece of equipment.

PORTABLE POWER UNIT

Lithium based portable power units provide a great alternative to fuel-based generators. They are safe, silent and renewable.

Here are some key advantages of lithium power units over fuel-based generators:

  • No gas is needed. You can recharge them by harnessing the power of the sun using solar panels.
  • No pollutants or fumes. They are eco-friendly, can be used indoors—good for you and for the planet.
  • Silent. You won't have to worry about noise restrictions and waking up to the generator turning on.
  • No Maintenance. They'll hold a charge for several months and up to a year if you don't use it during that time and you don't have to change fluids, spark plugs or other repairs.

Tip: There are different types of portable power units that have a range of capacities and features. You may want to get a small one that fits into the palm of your hand for light needs and another, more powerful one as a "work horse" around the house and yard.

RECHARGING YOUR
POWER UNIT

Portable power is a great way to keep all your devices charged. But how do you keep your portable power units charged? Most Lion Energy products have multiple ways to be recharged—from a wall outlet, through solar panels, and some can even be recharged using your vehicle or a hand crank. Lion Energy has specific solar panels for each power unit that you can check out from our main page on this website.

WALL CHARGING

All portable power units should come with a charging cord for the wall. It's pretty straight forward, plug the correct end into the power unit (usually on the back) and the other end into the standard wall outlet. The power units we recommended all have a display or lights that will show it charging.

SOLAR CHARGING

Harnessing the power of the sun through solar panels is a great way to recharge the power unit — it may take a little longer because you need good, direct sunlight, but it's good for the planet and good on your pocket book.

12V CHARGING

Some portable power units can also be charged using the 12V output in your vehicle, sometimes called the cigarette lighter outlet. When plugged into this outlet, the power unit is going to be recharged using the energy generated from the vehicle.

WIND OR WATER CHARGING

If you're really wanting to go green, you can search the internet for rechargers that use wind or water flow. Just be sure the adapter can connect to your specific portable power unit.

HAND CRANK CHARGING

A hand crank is a good way to get in a good workout while recharging your unit. This isn't for the faint of heart but can be used in emergencies when the other options aren't available.

WHAT CAN IT POWER? HOW LONG CAN IT LAST?

First, you need a basic understanding of some terms: Watts (W) and Watt hours (Wh).

  • Watts: how much power a device needs to run
  • Watt Hours: how much energy is stored.

Each of Lion’s power units have W and Wh specifications on the unit and on our website.

Second, you need to know how many W the device you want to power or charge actually needs. You can get this by looking on the label or searching the internet.

Watt hours / Watts = Estimated Run time (Wh / W = Estimated Run Time (ERT).

For instance, say a power source, like a Lion Energy product, as 150W of output and 100Wh of stored energy. Say a cell phone needs 6W of power to run. 100Wh / 6W = 16.7hrs of estimated run time. You can do the same process to check on any device.

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF POWER UNITS

You can use each power unit for lots of different things. It's a great idea to see how others are using lithium portable power units to give you some ideas on how to use yours. So, here a few short videos to give you some ideas.
